Why I Drink Warm Lemon Water in the Morning

You may have heard about drinking lemon water first thing in the morning and passed it off as a trend. But, I’m pretty sure it’s a trend that is here to stay because I (and others) have found many great benefits. There are tons of articles out there proving those amazing benefits, but when it comes to me actually doing something on a regular basis, I have to find my own reasons why it works for me. Now is a perfect time to start, after a month of holiday eating, so let’s see if my reasons can convince you.

It’s a great way to start hydrating first thing in the morning.

Often my first drink of the day would be black tea, which dehydrates the system. I find if I start the day hydrating with a simple glass of warm lemon water, I’m more likely to keep hydrating throughout the day. And we all know how important it is to stay hydrated.

It helps my digestion.

I’m not sure if it is the act of sitting down and enjoying my warm lemon drink for the first minutes of the day, or the actual lemon water doing its thing…but whatever it is, it’s working for me and I like it.

It tastes good.

It took a while to get used to the tartness of it, but I can now honestly say that I look forward to it each morning. I’ve started craving more citrusy things since starting the new routine, and I always love it when I can experiment with a new (to me) flavor.
