Chocolate Banana Bites

The end of May is nearing and we know what that means…summer is coming! This fact is exciting! It’s almost here! But the ticking clock also puts a lot of pressure on our health, weight, and fitness goals. Of course we want to feel confident in our swimsuit and summer clothes. So maybe we try to eat healthier, maybe we workout more, or maybe we try that crazy strict juice cleanse.

Whatever it may be, I just want to remind you to give yourself some love during this season. It’s easy to get down on yourself, or get mad at yourself for not being “perfect” on your diet, or to be disappointed that your pants are too tight. But what’s not easy is to give yourself some love and kindness when you need it most.

I’m saying this to you because I’m also reminding myself. My pants are a little tight this week and I must admit that I haven’t been so nice to myself about it. So what we are going to do is this: we are going to find a few ways to give ourselves the love that we need, so we can be happy in the present moment, even if our pants are tight. For me, the less I focus on the weight and the more I focus on enjoying my day-to-day life and the delicious food in it, my body naturally goes back to it’s normal, happy self.

Are you skeptical of this self-love thing? Welp, I’m going to be bossy and say “get over it,” because there is nothing to lose. So let’s do this, whole-heartedly.

Let’s look at ourselves in the mirror and give our body a compliment.

Let’s take ourselves on a solo date for one hour, to anywhere we want to go.

Let’s get dressed up in our favorite outfit – the one that makes us feel like a million bucks.

Let’s treat ourselves to that food we are craving instead of restricting it, and enjoy the heck out of it.

Let’s buy ourselves some flowers.

Let’s unfollow all those beach bodies on social media and stop comparing ourselves to them.

Let’s make appointments for a manicure or a massage.

Let’s give a loved one a gift, and give ourselves one too.

Let’s have an awesome week, just because.

To treat yourself during this awesome week of self-love, I got something for you. These chocolate banana bites might be just what you need. The sweet treat you’ve been wanting…one that looks cute, tastes great, and allows you to continue feeling like the best version of you. And you even get to lick a spoonful of melted chocolate at the end (if that’s not nice, I’m not sure what is).

Tell me, what are you going to do this week to be nicer to yourself?

Chocolate Banana Bites

Chocolate banana bites are just the treat you need to curb your sweet tooth without all the processed sugars.

Cook Time- 10 min

Total Time- 1 hr 10 min

Ingredients

  1. 2 bananas, chopped in 1.5 inch // 3cm pieces
  2. 2 ounces // 50 grams dark chocolate (70% or higher)
  3. Toppings of choice: crushed pistachios, chopped peanuts, cacao nibs, almond slivers, sea salt…

Instructions

  1. Set out a plate with a piece of wax paper on top. Melt the chocolate in a double boiler (or a heat-safe bowl over hot water) on low heat. Once melted, dip the ends of the bananas into the chocolate. Place the banana onto the wax paper, chocolate side facing up, and sprinkle on your favorite toppings. Repeat until all the bananas are gone. Place the bananas in the refrigerator until they harden, about an hour.
